Skiing was invented by pre-historic Nordic people as a method of transport to get around in the harsh winter conditions. The earliest documented history of Skiing can be found in carvings dating back to 5000 B.C showing a skier with one pole. In 2004 a researcher found a wood carving related to skiing dating back to 1010.

200 years after skiing became a common method of travel people started competing in cross country skiing competitions with championships held in Nordic countries as early as 1206 AD. These competitions were enjoyed by everyone from the poor to kings and even in this early age some of the ski competitions were up to 50 miles in length in horrible conditions.

In 1850 we saw the introduction of the modern ski which is the basis of what is still used today. Designed by the Norwegian ski expert Sondre Norheim the modern ski consisted of 2 wooden skis, tight bindings and a pair of tough boots. By 1896 Sondre and his team were showing the public exactly what they had learned in the last 18 years teaching modern ski techniques like the parallel turn and snow plough.

Most of our sking corportate guests are on work bonding sessions, organised by their team managers from such places as the folliwng

Over the last 100 years skiing has advanced leaps and bounds and is now a popular sport across the world with millions of people enjoying a ski holiday every year. Almost every major military in the world has a dedicated ski troop which shows how effective skiing is when it comes to travelling across rough terrain. Today skiing can be enjoyed almost anywhere with both dry and real snow ski slopes all over the world including a number in super hot climate countries in the middle east.
